Beauty and the Beast

One of the themes of this story is that appearances aren't everything. I feel what the author was trying to say is you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. He showed the point by telling us the cause and effects of how people treat others by their appearances. The prince did not gave shelter to a helpless old lady because of her appearance. But when the old lady turned out to be this beautiful and young woman, he begged for her forgiveness. The lady turned him down and told him to not judge other by their appearance, because beauty is found within. She then transformed the prince into a terrifying beast. The lady told him that if he did not find someone who would love him by this appearance then he would stay a beast forever. This theme came to my mind because to his day people are judging others by their appearances. I see this happening in school all the time, a girl turns down a guy just because of his appearance. But what she doesn't see is the beauty within him, same thing happens with guys.

  2. I agree with the theme she found because, throughout the story it shows how Belle loves the Beast for whats inside not for whats on the outside. Another theme I think could fit is that they always look on the bright side. Even though the odds were against them they tried to be positive and hope it might be okay. The author contructed the theme by letting Belle fall in love with the Beast. She knew he was a "monster" but once he got to know him, the soft side of him she fell in love with him.
